  1. The Import File Format dialog box lets you specify these options:

  3. Import File Type:  Select Tab Delimited or Comma
  4.     Delimited text.
  5.  
  6. Field Name Header Line:  File contains a line with
  7.     the field names.
  8.  
  9. Match Header Names To Field Names:  If you
  10.     checked the previous option, you can specify
  11.     here whether or not to use the header line’s
  12.     field name to assign the imported field values to
  13.     corresponding Address Book Plus fields.
  14.  
  15.     Caution:  The field names must match exactly.
  16.     Unmatched fields will not be imported.
  17.  
  18. Import Name Fields From One Field:  Use this
  19.     option when the name fields are contained in one
  20.     field in the import text file and you want Address
  21.     Book Plus to put the name parts in the
  22.     appropriate fields (Prefix, First Name, Last
  23.     Name, and Suffix) in the new file.

  25. Import Address Field From Two Separate Fields:
  26.     Use this option when the Address information is
  27.     split between two separate but adjacent fields in
  28.     the import file and you want Address Book Plus
  29.     to combine these two fields into one Address
  30.     field.

  32. Import City, State, And Code From One Field:  Use
  33.     this option when these three items are contained
  34.     in one field in the import text file and you want
  35.     Address Book Plus to put the items into their
  36.     appropriate fields.

  38. Import Phone Code And Number From One Field:
  39.     Use this option when the phone code and number
  40.     are contained in one field in the import text file
  41.     and you want Address Book Plus to put the code
  42.     into the phone code field and the phone number
  43.     into the phone number field.

  45. Automatically Add New Terms To Smart Lists:  Add
  46.     any terms in the imported file to the smart lists
  47.     if they are not there already.

  49. Interpret Carriage Returns As:  Enter the linefeed
  50.     character that should be replaced with carriage
  51.     returns while importing Address or Notes fields.
  52.     The default is the paragraph mark (¶); change
  53.     it only if the file you are importing contains a
  54.     different mark.
